10 Budget Tips
Helping You Control Your Financial Future

These 10 Budget tips can help you to form a strategic solution to control your finances and save for a more secure future.

The importance of a budget in the modern world is obvious with temptations to take your money lurking around every corner, but once keeping on track with a budget becomes habitual, you can get excited by every dollar you save instead of every dollar you spend.

Try these budget tips on for size:

1. Recruit Everyone

Get your partner, the kids and all of your household involved in cutting the spending. Everyone can come up with valuable ways that they can contribute towards reducing spending and minimizing waste. Value the productivity of family members by congratulating their efforts and keep them motivated to contribute more.

2. List Your Expenses - All Of Them

Make a complete list of everything you spend money on, absolutely everything and evaluate items on their individual benefits. Tick the ones you think you can find a better deal for and underline the ones that can't be changed.

3. Comparing Prices

Take the list of ticked items that you think can be purchased cheaper and look for alternative solutions and make price comparisons. Mark with a x the new alternatives that you are happy to change and have found better prices for and research them thoroughly again.

4. List Comparisons

By now you should have three lists, one with the items you can't change, one with the items you can change but can't find better deals for and one with items you are happy to substitute and have found better priced alternatives. Now you have three solid lists to work with and as your situation changes the individual lists may change. This is you outgoings list

5. Income

Now list your source or sources of income and calculate the difference between the two by subtracting your outgoings from your incomings and then you will be left with your net surplus. Hopefully this surplus is a reasonable amount.

6. List Improvements

Now that you have your outgoings and incomings sorted the key is to improve each list to increase your surplus. By Increasing your income or your savings you can create a positive surplus to invest.

7. Budget For Temptations

By setting an amount for rewards, you can satisfy temptations without having a mind exploding budget blowout, just be sure to set aside a proportion of your surplus each week for little rewards.

8. Credit Cards Burn Budgets

The credit card is the sworn enemy of the smart budget. Buying now and paying later is something for those who have absolutely no other choice, but for those trying to stick to a sound financial plan credit cards are best left burned, cut up or buried at the bottom of the ocean.

9. Develop The Budget Mindset

Once people develop the budget mindset they actually enjoy saving and getting a kick out finding bargains when they shop, because they look at the surplus as an exciting challenge, one which leaves them financially more secure.

10. Look At The Positives Of Budgeting

People often (wrongly) think budgets are going to be overly restrictive and stressful, however the truth is the opposite because those who have a safety net are far more secure than those without one - Budgets reduce stress. They key is to find satisfactory alternatives and make them part of a positive, happy change in your life style.

Develop your budgeting skills and make a plan you can stick to, then you give yourself a positive opportunity to build wealth into the future.

These 10 Budget Tips should be viewed as tools with your personal effort being the key to the budget solution.

I agree that budgeting needs to be tight, but with room left to have a few of those nice little temptations along the way.

Budgets should not be so ...
